Flower Fields Forever

Uncategorized

If you guys haven’t already heard of the Carlsbad Flower Fields, then you’ve been missing out on some serious awe factor my friends. Covering fifty acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers, in an array of the most beautiful natural bright colors, make up The Flower Fields. They are only in bloom for approximately six to eight weeks each year – from early March through early May – literally bringing the famous fields back to life. This annual burst of color, which has become part of the area’s local heritage, also is one of nature’s official ways of announcing the arrival of spring here in southern California.

This past week, me and my friend, Taylor, made a visit to see it in all its glory but since its still early and a lot of the flowers still need to bloom, only the North Field of the ranch was full. It actually ended up being pretty perfect because it wasn’t crowded with people and we got to just stop and hangout at our own leisure.

*Also, this was our first attempt at using a selfie stick and it was pretty hilarious. I’m sure the people walking past us had a good laugh, as did we.

They have more than just a big field of flowers though, lots of neat succulents and  they have fun things like a sweet pea flower maze, which is actually a bit of a challenge. Also, there is a cute playground for kids, which is a perfect picnic spot for families and lemonade stand (a must try by the way)! They even offer tours and wagon rides around the fields while they talk about the history, planting process and growing cycle, etc.

So, if your looking for something fun to do over spring break or want to cross this off your bucket list-do it ! Plus, who couldn’t have fun and be happy when your surrounded by pretty flowers ?!

San Francisco

Life has been pretty crazy lately, just one thing after another and felt like I just couldn’t catch a break. I was really itching for a little getaway so me and my best gal pal, Taylor, decided to take a little road trip up the coast to visit our friend Torie in San Francisco ! We got there late afternoon Wednesday and left Friday morning so we basically only had one full day to explore the city but it was the perfect amount of time because well, I miss Callan way too much to leave her for that long, let’s be real.

I’ve been to San Francisco a handful of times but I’ve never actually done all the touristy things people usually do, so we spent the full day we had, checking out some of the fun places ! Here’s a little bit of what our time in San Frnsisco looked like…

Of course our first was none other than…a coffee shop, duh ! We went to Wrecking Ball Coffee which had the cutest wall paper and friendly baristas.

Next, we headed to Castro street, which is known for the rainbow side walks and all the gay pride up and down the street. We stopped in to Harvey’s for a drink (recommend the white sangria) before we continued on.

Let me tell you, driving in San Francisco is really freaking stressful ! BUT the views you find, over looking the city are so pretty you can’t not stop and look. There are just so many big building, colorful and unique houses, creative murals painted all over the city it’s so amazing !

And what’s a touristy trip to SF without hanging out at Dolores park where you can casually pop a bottle of rose and  people watch until your heart desires.

Oh hey ladies ! Here’s a few of the beautiful painted ladies themselves. Oh and me !

And last but not least, the famous house from the tv show series Full(er) House ! I watched the show growing up so it was so cool to finally see it in person ! Although, I was a little bummed they pained the red door.

Fun Fact: the producter/creator of the show recently bought the Full House house ! Not sure if he’s going to be living in it or what he’s going to do but that’s still so awesome !

Well, that pretty much sums up what our time in San Francisco looked like, minus some really yummy eats we went to. I love the city and can’t wait to go back !
